Maria Johnson Promoted to Chief Crisis Officer

Maria Johnson was promoted from Director of Crisis Services to Chief Crisis Officer at Horizon Health and Wellness on October 1, 2022.

Maria has worked in behavioral health services with Horizon for 19 years, 18 of which have been dedicated to crisis services.  She joined the company shortly before graduating college in 2003. Maria stated that “[her] passion is in crisis because the services are based in the community and there is great potential to positively impact an individual or family during a time of emergency need”.

During her time with Horizon, crisis services have significantly changed and grown. There has been increased license support, modifications to documentation and risk assessments to incorporate social changes, and more opportunities for specialized trainings. Recently, the crisis services coverage area expanded to include all of Apache Junction and Queen Creek, and there are now two-person teams to cover all shifts.

Maria says, “It’s rewarding to feel we can make an immediate difference [in the lives of community members] and help connect them to care.” She is excited to continue to make a difference in people’s lives through her work with the crisis team.

Congratulations on your promotion, Maria!
