The Horizon

The pandemic brought particular challenges for people with serious mental illness (SMI). Many have been unable to interact with others to build vital social skills. With limits on the activities that are within current health safety guidelines, Globe Clinic’s SMI Road to Recovery (R2R) group banded together and found creative ways to meet their patients’ needs. They raised money and put together a water event to promote mingling and increased social skills. This gave SMI patients the opportunity to go outdoors to have fun together. Patients that struggle with mobility were able to sit in pools and enjoy splashing in the sun, while others interacted with bubbles and water guns.
